DPMM FC out to maul Lions

DPMM FC head coach Vjeran Simunic believes that tonight's S-League match against the Young Lions will be a test of his players character.

Coming six days after their loss to Home Utd, the Croatian yesterday said that a win tonight would be important to prove that the result last Sunday was just a hiccup in what had been a stunning start to their debut season.

"I know it will not be easy after we lost our last game, but to come back, we know that we must have character," said Simunic when met during the team's training yesterday.

"We need the points because Gombak are now above us and a win will make a lot of difference," he added.

Despite surrendering their unbeaten record, Simunic dismissed claims that the team's morale had suffered from the loss.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room is great and the players are all ready to do their part," said the coach.

"I am sure we will play a good game."

One of the players Simunic is talking about is 21-year old attacking midfielder Azwan Salleh who picked up a late injurty prior to the Home's game.

"Azwan is a key player and I have a lot of trust in him.Hardi Bujang is also improving in fitness and I am playing him for more minutes now," said Simnunic.

The Croatian said that he planned to field the same team that played against SAF FC on april26th.

The key to that victory was 35-year old Algerian striker Hmaid Berguiga who set up a goal, and scored another, and Simunic is once again opting for experience rather than pace.

"Hamid will definitely start and Ddog Yi will be benched," said Simunic.

"The team are playing better with Hamid and so that is why I have decided to hand him the start," he added.

The suspended backline of captain of Pg Sallehudin and defenders Rene Komar,Yuosf Salleh and Sairol Saari will be eligible to play after having served their one match ban picked up during their game against SAF.
