Brunei DPMM FC coach Vjeran Simunic's strategy of building a balanced 18-man squad from the start of the S-League season, will be put in good use for the game against Home United on Sunday at Clementi Stadium in Singapore.
Coming off a 1-0 win against Pelita Jaya in the RHB Singapore Cup, Brunei DPMM will be looking to carry on their momentum into the game against Home United.
However, Brunei DPMM will be missing four key players - captain Pg Sallehuddin Damit,Rene Komar, Yusof Salleh and Sairol Saari- who are all suspended for the game after picking up four yellow cards in previous matches.
Simunic is not worried of the four being suspended although they are the backbone of the defensive line.
"It's always my focus in building Brunei DPMM into a squad 18 balanced and in-depth players. It is now the right time to put the bench players to the test."
"Abdul Aziz Tamit,Helmi Zambin,Hardi Bujang, Safari Wahit may get the start this Sunday in replace of the suspended players," he said.
"I trust them, I work with them this week and I am sure the new starters will want to take the opportunity to perform well," he added.
On his preparation for the match, the Croatian coach said," We have watched numerous Home Utd matches and analysed their games. We will go to Singapore to do our best."
On Home's capability, Simunic said :"I have respect for Home United. They are one of the top teams in the league who have won titles. They have very good import players."
"It may be the toughest challenge for Brunei DPMM thus far this season especially looking at the situation that we are missing key players.
But all the games are tough in the S-League especially when all teams are looking to break our unbeaten record," Simunic said.
