All good things must come to an end and the same can now be said of DPMM FC's unbeaten run in the S-League.
DPMM's unbeaten streak in the S-League season fell at the hands of Home Utd last night, losing 2-0 at the Clementi Stadium in singapore.
In the space of three second half minutes, strikers Norikazu Murakami and Kengne Ludovick dashed DPMM's hopes of finishing the first round of the season undefeated after scoring in the 60th and 63rd minutes respectively.
Before the game,Vjeran Simunic had identified Japan's Murikami,Cameroonian Ludovick, his compatriot Valero Hick in defence as players to keep an eye out for, and he couldn't have been more right.
DPMM FC head coach Simunic must take some positives from the fact that they were the last team in the league to surrender their undefeated record, but deep down he might admit that it would be a different story if he had the services of this first-choice defenders, who were all out due to suspensions.
After emerging as the surprise team of the league because of their spellbinding start and their position as leaders over three different periods, the pressure is now off DPMM to maintain their undefeated run.
For Home, the win moves them up one notch to sixth in the league.
But more importantly, the result will help boost some confidence in the side - one that have traditionally always been in the title race and now find themselves in unfamiliar territory.
With those three points now in the bag and DPMM FC back to earth after a remarkable start to their season, it remains to be seen how the second round of the 2009 season will shape out.
