The result at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore maintained their unbeaten recoed in the Singapore League and saw them dethrone Gombak for the top spot in the league.
However, their position in the summit was short-lived as reigning cha,pions Singapore Armed Forces SAF) FC thrashed Sengkang Punggol 7-1 at the Hougang Stadium last night.
Both teams now have 18 points, though SAF are on top because of superior goal difference.
After declaring that "fortune favours the brave and we are brave,so we deserve fortune" before the team flew to Singapore on Wednesday, Simunic was sticking to his mantra in his post-game comments.

"Gombak are the best team we faced so far and posed a difficulty with their tall players," added Simunic.
Gombak threatened several times from crosses into the box and it paid off in the 29th minute when they scored their goal through Emmanuel Emujeraye, who received a lob pass which evaded the defender,Rene Komar to cooly slotted home past goalkeeper Wardun Yusof.
However, midfielder Sairol Saari's second goal in the 73rd minute ensured all three points for the visitors.
Two of Sairol's free-kicks ended up in the back of the net and the goals were a fitting present for the left-footer who celebrated his 26th birthday on Thursday.
Simunic maintained that the club was on course to achieve its target for a top five finish in its debut season after picking up 18 points out of a possible 24.
"Each and every point is crucial for our target - regardless of spirit, non-stop running and men behind the ball," said the DPMM FC coach.
"The players would be happy reaching the summit," he added.
DPMM FC had a chance to reclaim top spot again when they will face Albirex Niigata at the Jurong East Stadium on Tuesday.
