Japanese test for Brunei DPMM FC

Brunei DPMM FC will be putting their undefeated record on the line when they face Albirex Niigata in the league match at the Jurong Stadium tonight.

Team morale is on a record high for Brunei DPMM after knocking Gombak United off the perch with a 2-1 win last week. Following the match against Gombak United on Friday, Brunei DPMM opted to stay back in Singapore for the game against Albirex Niigata.

With five wins and three draws in eight matches, new boys Brunei DPMM have yet to lose a match in S-League.

On same points but separated by a goal difference, Brunei DPMM will be looking for a win to overtake current leaders SAFFC who will only be playing on Friday, April 17 against Super Reds.

Albirex Niigata are a Japanese outfit with only one Korean player, midfielder Park Myung Eun and their dangermen Akira Takase and Kenji Adachihara.

At home turf, Albirex have been impressive winning three out of four games.Albirex manager Brasoveanu is hoping to use his home advantage to conjure up a win against Brunei DPMM.

According to report in the S-League official website, Brasoveanu said : "Out of the four games that we played at home, we won three. But considered that this is a young team, consistency has always been an issue. Hopefully we can take advantage of our home ground and play well against DPMM."

"We are always optimistic and positive as we prepare for every game.It does not serve any purpose for us to be worried about our opponents. We should only concentrate on how we play our football on the end of the day," said Brasoveanu.

Meanwhile, Pg Waslimin, the Brunei DPMM manager when contacted yesterday said: "Although we expect a tough game tomorrow in their home ground, we are confident of bagging all three points following a crucial away win against Gombak."

"All first 11 are expected to play as there are no injury woes," he added.
