SINGAPORE: SAF FC hope the weather and pitch in Singapore will give them the advantage when they take on Japan's Kashima Antlers in an AFC Champions League match at Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday evening.
SAF FC will be the first S.League team to play in the AFC Champions League.
It has not been a good run for SAF FC in the competition so far, having lost their first two games. They were defeated 1-4 by China's Shanghai Shenhua in an away match.
The SAF FC also suffered a 0-2 home defeat against Korea's Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
Their latest opponent will be equally tough. The Kashima Antlers are back-to-back winners of the Japanese J.League.
The Singapore team will also be without some key players, but the defending S.League champs are still upbeat.
SAF FC's head coach, Richard Bok, said: "Hopefully, the heat and humidity in Singapore will shift the advantage to us more... as long as we can hold them 0-0 at half time... you never know."
