DPMM FC striker Oh Ddog Yi opened his S-League account last night with a goal in the 35th minute to hand the team a 1-0 win against wooden spoonist Balestier Khalsa.
The South Korean has impressed in front of goal most of his times with the Super Reds last season, and last night's striker at the Toa Payoh Stadium maintains the club's unbeaten run, with the result their third win in five games played.
But despite the victory, DPMM were not able to jump to second because of Gombak's stoppage time winner against Young Lions in the other match.
DPMM's win last night will not doubt send the correct signals to the club's hierarchy, who earlier this week repaid their trust in head coach Vjeran Simunic by handing him a one-year extension to his contract.
Though they had several chances in front of goal, the visitors were unable to find the breakthrough until ten minutes from the break.
A constant danger on the flanks, midfielder Sairol Sahri sent in a cross from the left which the Balestier defence was unable to clear the safety.
A poor header was pounced ipon by the 24-year old Oh, who scored 12 goals for Super Reds last season.
DPMM's next game will be at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Tuesday against Sengkang Punggol.A difficult encounter as Sengkang is well known for their fighting qualities.
