DPMM FC’s strike force reminds me of Liverpool’s former forward line - Torres, Crouch, Kuyt and Voronin. DPMM FC have four strikers to play around with but definitely Shahrazen and Ddog Yi are the obvious choice upfront. Shahrazen, probably the most hardworking striker among the four, was under pressure for not scoring in the first five games but he proved doubters wrong as he scored a superb volley to answer his critics. I do hope the goal will bring in more confidence for Shahrazen and he’s sharper as of late but he needs to gain back 100% fitness if he wants to bring the best out of him.
Ddog Yi has been another hardworking player but he seemed to lose steam after the break. I’ve only seen him play at home matches but he’s not an exciting prospect like Ashfaq Ali who partnered well with Shahrazen during the M-League Days. It’s surprising considering that Ddog Yi has scored an amazing 12 goals for Super Reds last season. Perhaps a few more games will see some change of fortune for the Korean player. One goal in six games is not exactly the return you want to see for a striker.
AbdelHamid Berguiga arrived slightly later and missed the first few matches. Yes, like Simunic said, it will take sometime before the Algerian forward adapt to the gameplay of DPMM FC. Yes, he has shown some sublime touches despite his lanky figure. In the last game, he could have bagged at least two goals but he is still lacking the finishing touch. Let’s hope he will deliver the finish product in the next few games. One problem - he speaks no English at all.
Abu Bakar has been sensational, scoring two vital goals in the first two games. Though his goals have dried up, Simunic relies him to be the super bench player for DPMM FC and he could be DPMM FC’s secret weapon. He has yet to start for DPMM FC but I’m sure his time will come to prove his worth. Do expect him to score off the bench. A promising prospect indeed.
