Warriors go down fighting

SAFFC are rooted to the bottom of Group Gin the AFC Champions League after losing 2-0 to Suwon Bluewings at Jalan BesarStadium last night. The S-League champions lost their opener 4-1 at Shanghai Shenhua last week.
.
The Korean champions chose toleave behind a host of high profile internationals and it took them 65 minutes to get their breakthrough, with a hotly-contested penalty.
.
SAFFC defender Daniel Bennett flagged for handball in the box by the assistant linesman and Suwon’s Brazilian strikerEduardo Goncalves converted from the spot.
.
Gaps began to appear in the Warriors’ defence as they sought an equaliser and Edu doubled his tally in the 71st minute from close range.
.
“We were doing very well until the penalty,” said SAFFC coach Richard Bok. “I think the official let us down.”
.
But Bluewings coach Cha Bum Kun wasn’t concerned that his side took over an hour to get their first goal. He said: “It was not hard to break down SAFFC. Getting used to the hot weather and the artificial turf was the problem.” A S Dwight
