Shahrazen volleys DPMM FC to the summit. [ranoadidas.com]

What a way to break a duck with a stunning volley that brought the strong 9,000 supporters into a frenzy state. Despite the 1-0 victory, DPMM FC was far from convincing especially in the attacking department. They could have killed off the game through efforts from Abdelhamid, Hardi Bujang and Subhi’s stunning miss. All their efforts failed to be on target and DPMM FC were fortunate that Sengkang didn’t bring their scoring boots.

Then again, even with the likes of the Indra Sahdan Daud, Singapore national striker, the visitors hardly bring the best out of Wardun in goal. Their long range efforts lacked pace and there were more like a routine catch for the goalie. Sengkang’s misery continued with their defender Jerry being sent off with two bookable offences late in the game.

What a volley by Shahrazen.

But I have to say that the crowd attendance is increasing week by week. Could it be because of DPMM FC’s status in the league itself? Or has it become a social culture to catch DPMM FC matches? The match attendance was 9,100 which is an increase from the 6,500 spectators in the last game against Woodlands Wellington. It is still possible to make it to 15,000 spectators in the future. Perhaps, if DPMM FC continue to grind results away from home, it’s very likely this target can be achieved.

Perhaps, my men of the match will have to be Azwan Saleh and Pg Sallehuddin. Azwan was simply terrific in midfield and he seems fitter than before. He plays similar to that of Essien and his work rate was just phenomenal. As for Pg Sallehuddin, he never put a foot wrong when needed and he showed some great determination to win every ball in the air. He even made Daud, Singapore’s top striker, look anonymous at times.
