The SAF Warriors returned to pole position in style after a 6-0 hammering of Albirex Niiigata (S) at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium on Thursday.
The Japanese side conceded three goals in each half as the Warriors dished out the season's biggest winning margin so far.
As second-placed Gombak United were held to a 1-1 draw by Woodlands Wellington, the Warriors finished the night swopping places with DPMM FC, who had led the table following Tuesday's 1-0 win over Sengkang Punggol.
Warriors' coach Richard Bok had asked for a response from his charges following Sunday's shock 2-3 defeat to Woodlands Wellington and he should have a reason to smile after the game.
To be sure, it was a tentative start for the Warriors until Ahmad Latiff Khamarudin's 32nd-minute opener which went in from the underside of the bar.
Then the floodgates opened.
Captain Aleksandar Duric made it 2-0 off a Park Tae Won cross. John Wilkinson maintained his fine scoring form from a corner three minutes before the break.
The onslaught continued in the second half as Park provided another cross for Duric while Wilkinson netted his seventh goal in as many games after Albirex goalkeeper Yoshito Matsushita's failure to gather Therdsak Chaiman's attempt.
Duric then recorded his hat-trick in the 90th minute and the Warriors' sixth.
