Brunei DPMM will be looking to extend its unbeaten run at the S-League when they face Geylang United away on Thursday, March 12 at Stadium Bedok in Singapore.
Its not easy for opponents to win points at the home of Geylang United, also known as the Eagles.
Brunei DPMM coach Vjeran Simunic also acknowledged that Geylang United's advantage of never losing on home ground.
In an interview yesterday, the Croatian coach said" "The game against Geylang Utd will be a very open game because Geylang have never been defeated at home. They are a home-based team with huge supporters."
However he said, "After a win against the Woodlands, we will carry the momentum to face Geylang and try to continue our undefeated record. We will play the same spirit as we did in the previous games against Super Reds ans Woodlands.I hope we can get all three points from the game."
"We just recovered from a big game against the Woodlands, and in two days time, we have to face Geylang Utd away in Singapore.I know about Geylang Utd, they are one of many good teams in the S-League with 4 experienced imports that are regulars in the S-League, especially Miroslav Latiak and Ratislav Belicak of Slovakia are very good players and they might cause us few problems," he added.
Touching on the issues of exhaustion after playing three games within a week,Simunic said: "At the moment, everyone is fit to play.I will bring the usual first starting 11 to Singapore. However, if any player feel that they are too tired or not feeling well enough to start, we have ready and capable players to stand in for replacement. So I am not worried."
On Brunei DPMM FC's impressive run, he said: "We are in comfortable situation for us to have won twice and fre once in the first three games in the league. But we can't be complacent, we will continue to fight until our last breath for a win."
Speaking about the new import,Abdel Hamid Berguiga of Algeria, the coach revealed the player is under immense stress because it's the first time that he has joined club overseas. And currently, we are still trying to build a common communication with him because he can only speaks Arabic and French.
Guess he's referring to just this season right? While it is true that Geylang has not lost at home this term, they have only played 1 home game so far. Is that enough to judge their home form? I think it'll take at least 3 games...
ReplyDeleteSo, it's just another mind game ler... Though I do expect Geylang to give them a very tough game by then.
FYI, Geylang's home record last season (including games at JBS): P16 W7-D3-L6 F30-A23 Pts24 (GD+7).
