SINGAPORE: Tampines Rovers' Noh Alam Shah was in the spotlight once again on Monday. The national striker walked off the pitch in the 77th minute on Monday night, in their Great Eastern-Yeo's S.League 2009 clash with Sengkang Punggol at Tampines Stadium, which they eventually won 2-0.

The striker got off to the best possible start when he fired home a low shot in the 22nd minute to put the Stags ahead.

Any hope of a Sengkang recovery ended just before half-time when goalkeeper Joey Sim was sent off by referee Zaid Hussein for a professional foul, after he obstructed Alam Shah as the striker tried to latch on to a loose ball.

Sim was replaced by Amos Boon and the 10-man Dolphins had a number of close shaves before the drama unfolded 13 minutes from time.

This time Boon was shown a red card for an infringement in the box. A penalty was awarded to Tampines and it looked as if Zulkarnean Zainal prevented his team-mate Alam Shah from taking the spot-kick, and the striker duly walked off the field.

Thai midfielder Sutee Suksomkit made it 2-0 from the spot and Alam Shah was replaced by Selamat Jalit in the 83rd minute.

When contacted, team manager Syed Faruk said: "Alam Shah's ankle injury has been bugging him for a long time and that's why Sutee took the penalty. Yes, he was upset, but he has accepted it and has apologised.

"No, we're not thinking of expelling him or anything like that. We know Alam Shah, he always wants to win and that's his character. There are no issues." -
